Early TV producer Bob Banner has passed away (read his obit here).

Banner was involved with several iconic TV programs from the 1940s to the 1980s, including Kukla, Fran and Ollie; Candid Camera; Omnibus; The Garry Moore Show; The Dinah Shore Chevy Show; Carol Burnett's variety show, and even Star Search (the amateur talent program that fits somewhere in the lineage between Major Bowes and American Idol).

Sad to read of actor James Arness' death, but relieved to see appropriate mention of William Conrad as having originated the role of Matt Dillon on the radio version of Gunsmoke.
